Response Question 3

Before women actually get an abortion there are many factors and unknown circumstances that contribute to her decision to go through with the procedure. Under what circumstances do you think that abortion is socially/morally acceptable, if you think abortion is never acceptable, why is don't you approve of the reasons behind the choice?

  1. Abortion is acceptable to me in cases of rape, incest and danger to the mother. I reluctantly accept abortion if the mother fully understands and accepts her own responsibility for ending the life she is carrying. While I believe in another woman's right to have an abortion, I could never have one myself. I regret the number of abortions that I know about that were done to end pregnancies after careless sex when the woman was drunk.

  2. I believe abortion can be tolerated in extreme cases, such as rape or where the mother may be in danger. However, on the whole, I think abortion is wrong and shouldn't be acceptable. People should be responsible for their actions and decisions.

  3. I am a supporter of abortion for whatever the reason. A woman should be able to choose what happens in her body. If I were to be pregnant, I do not think I could ever have an abortion but I would want to make the decision myself.
